After owning 2 TS-480HX already I have to say they are anice radio and for a stock 200 watt radio it is the cheapest price.

Tons of features BUT

the thing that really sucks is that it is no competition with the 706 or 857/897

Kenwood dropped the ball in my opinion by not making it with 2m and 70cm

That is the reason I got rid of mine I have a sunfire and there is just no room for 2 radios like most new cars

But if you want HF only they did release the TS-50 again just this week

Well it seems Kenwood is trying to cover ALL catagories. New Kenwood They have the nice looking catagory well covered, they covered the UGLY catagory with the TS-2000 and now have filled the FUGLY catagory. I've always had the "as long as it looks good on the air" opinion, But I now see there are LIMITS !

Well, With all the reading I have done about radios trying to find a better one. Well I guess I will stay with my TS-520.

Built back in the 70s and still running strong.
