Well don't know if I believe the hype, but going to give it a try...So ordered one today to mount on the truck with the FT-450at and the HLA-300a+ amp I picked up couple weeks back...Hello Radio!

THE KW 6-160 IS THE BEST MOBILE ANTENNA AVAILABLE ANYWHERE. IT COVERS ALL THE BANDS, WILL HANDLE A KILOWATT OF POWER PEP, RUNS COOL AND IS MORE EFFICIENT THAN ANY OTHER SIMILAR ANTENNAS FOR ITS SIZE. WHILE TESTING WITH A KILOWATT AFTER 1/2 HOUR THE COIL ONLY RAISED 5 DEGREES F. THAT IS REMARKABLE ACCOMPLISHMENT. MANY ARE IN USE AS BASE STATION ANTENNAS. 12 GA COPPER WIRE on Hi tech phenolic coil form

Where did you order the antenna? Also, do you have any pics of it installed on the vehicle?

For what it's worth.
If you use plexiglas/plastic to form a brace and if there's much of a gap between it and the coil section of the antenna, slip some 'pipe' insulation between the plastic and the coil-tube. Keeps things from rattling around and marking the tube.
For the lower HF bands, 160 and 80 meters, you can almost count on having to add a matching coil at the feed point of that (or any screwdriver) antenna. It certainly doesn't have to be 'large' by any means, just there, sort of. It will make impedance matching much easier and shouldn't affect the bands above 80 or 40 meters at all. You may not need one, but if finding the 'sweet spot' isn't very easy, just remember it.
Oh! And think huge when you think about a mounting bracket/post! There's a hell-uva bunch of momentum built up with any antenna that heavy. 'Smaller' brackets/posts just ain't gonna do it. (Ask me how I know. Then again, don't ask. It's embarrassing.)

Well it has arrived!
DAMN that antenna is a HOG!
Going to take some consideration on the mount and material used for support...
Doc, your comments are NOTED OM!:D
Maybe get a chance to rig(or start) this weekend...That main shaft appears to be 4 inch machined ALM tubing with a 3.5 inch coil...she is a Brute...
More later
