"New" President Washington consensus?

I talked to an operator in Oregon who was running a new Washington yesterday. Crisp clear audio. Said it was his 2nd day with it on the air, and had received nothing but good reports. I told him to add my thumbs-up to the list.

The new Washington is a great radio with great features. I have the George which is the little brother CB version and it has great audio. I usually have it driving a KL203 on side band and have talked all over when conditions are good.

As for the cost, the same features can be had in an Anytone for a lot less. I believe Anytone messed up President's plans on these.
Info for all!
Anderson Radio Supply now has the AT-5555N.

I have no complaints at all with the new Washington. Paired with the DigiMike, I get nothing but good reports on the audio. It gets a little warm on long key-ups, but the fans do their job well in keeping it cool.

Overall, it's the radio I use most often, other than the Kenwood TS 480HX and TS 50. A lot of operators that I talk to regularly, often can't tell the difference in regards to, if I'm on the Washington or the Kenwood.

I'm really happy with it.

I praised the 2510, 2600, 2830/Lincoln , they were decent radios, covered 10-12 with the Chipswitch and fit in small places at a decent price.

Last version had a small PC board mounted to the rear heat sink with a mrf 455 bolted to it and they were $300 + radios by then, and they pulled the plug.

I'm thankful that I had the hindsight to buy a lot of radio gear 35 years ago, to put away for a rainy day. I have two later model MRF 455 Chipswitched and stripped of that corrosive Sonybond glue 2830s that are still in their sealed factory boxes, just waiting to be shown the attention they deserve...lol

FYI
With the RF Power dead-key set at six-watts and transmitting, the thermostatically controlled fans do not come on and the temperature of the radio case maintains between 82 - 84 degrees Fahrenheit. When the RF power is increased above six-watts and transmitting, the temperature of the case increases and the fans are activated. Have not attempted to increase the RF power to reach the advertised 80 PEP watts. Who knows what the temperature would be without the fans.
