Something new for the summer skip/DX season:
A new simplex repeater is "up-and-running" in California on 27.935 MHz

To use simplex repeater, you simply transmit a message (talk)! The repeater will record & then resend what you sent (said).
There is a maximum of 30 seconds of message time. Note: a carrier will not key the repeater; you must say something ! :-O

There are many CB/11m simplex (parrot) repeaters in Europe, Russia and Australia, but I have not heard or used any constantly in the USA.
Maybe you know of others in use here?

Technical Info:
This thing is new; it has been under test for only 2 weeks.
It is a community resource (a toy really), so have fun. If it doesn't work great, OK. We'll try to improve it (together) over time with your feedback!

The modulation levels have been to hardest to adjust, so play with it and send feedback here on the forum.
As a note, the female-voice announcement peaks at 80% modulation. I think this may be too loud, honestly, but let me know your opinion.

Technical Info.:
TX/RX Freq.: 27.935 MHz
Modulation Type: AM (FM optional)
Antenna: DEZ- x2 5/8 wave, dipole configuration
Antenna Height: 100'
Coax: LMR-400
Cable Loss: 1.1dB
PA Power Output 80W
Power to Antenna: 48W
Squelch break: S3 (109 dBm)
Operating Hours: 6am-8pm PDT (daylight hours)
PL Tone: None (optional)
GMRS cross-band access: Planned, but none at this time
Maximum Message Time: 30 sec
Courtesy Tone: enabled
Announcement: enabled (Female, British accent) Why? Why not? haha
Announcement interval: 10 mins

Thanks all

Here is a picture of the FT8 Contacts for the 10M HAM band. All locations are in reach of this repeater. This of the possibilities!!

That's super cool! I can't wait for winter E-skip season when we get California booming in here to give the repeater a try! Is this in North Cal or South?
