I just singed up to this forum. I am a long time swl, but gave up the hobby for 10 years or so. I dug out my old Realistic DX 440 and Drake R8. The R8 worked for a few hours and then started acting weird. Drake Canada is in my hometown of Peterborough, so fixing it wasn't a problem. The $150.00 bill was a problem, but I had to do it. Works great now. I have noticed that shortwave traffic is getting or has got low since I last listened. Still lots to listen to though, just trying to remember what I used to listen to.

Thanks. I dug out some of my old Passport to World Radio and other related books to read up on shortwave and related info. A lot of it is outdate, of course. The internet helps out with quicker updated info. Back when I listened, there was no internet. It's amazing to hear and recognize the same people on the air now as back in the late 90's. I heard local hams that I listened to years ago. Radio Canada Int. is just a shadow of it's former self.

Welcome to the site :)

There's still a lot to listen too, but propagation hasn't been helping things out too much lately. It should slowly start getting better...
