Been running a radio in my company vehicles for 25 years now in the mid west. RCI 2950's, Magnum Delta, 257, Omegaforce, and a 2510. Any time it gets around zero I always warm the car up before I ever turn the radio on. They all work fine that way.

President Mckinley does same at less than 10'F here in PA.. I just found out.. 
I now let car warm up and then turn on radio.. No problems on RX but the TX kinda locks out abit. Once warm all is back to normal

Wait until it's -40. At that exact temperature, Fahrenheit and Celsius are the same - no need to specify -40F or -40C.
After all of this happened I have started to start my truck 20 minutes before driving to and from work and I also turn radio on while it's running. No issues since other than I wish I would have bought a bigger amp!
