she lights up,displays OK;there is audio present(hiss sound from speaker,in RX mode).TX icon on display doesn't show at all.

there is NO power or modulation in any mode whatsoever.

there is NO RX noise(other than hiss) or signal strength on the meter.

TX button on the face of rig won't key it up either!

can someone point me to a good starting point?

I haven't tried for audio at the PA jack yet.don't believe it's

relevant at this point yet.

thanks to all!

Well, I would start with the regulators.

There is a 5v and a 8V on the Micro PCB and there is a 8v on the left side of the chassi.

Left to Right.. Input - Ground - Output

Also check the lil blue Kidneybean Xtal next to the Microprocessor.

I would Clean the glue/epoxy around it to make sure the PCB traces are intact.

Also I would check for Power to the Micro and the other IC' s on the Micro PCB..

See the Voltage chart on my Website:

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
