Whats involved in a peak and tune procedure so i can do it my self. not really into the peak part just want to get 80 watts out of the magnum s3 i just bought.

Magnum S-3 : 50W radio with 3 ERF2030s (1 driver & 2 finals)
Note Early Versions of S-3's had Two 2SC1969 for finals.

if you do in fact have the magnum s380, it will do all of 80w, maybe a little more with the proper tune. if you have the regular magnum s3, expect no more than 60w, max PEP..... and that's with a proper tune.
well i ordered it from a place that i did not know the rep of so i told them to keep it stock. ill do the channel mod myself. will it do 80 watts out of the factory?
right out of the box....... you should see numbers in the neighborhood of 70w-85w, max. given your feedline and antenna is good and your SWR's are of a low nature. i had one tuned by preacherman...... it was a swinger! a shade over 100w max PEP.
S380....i stand corrected. i thought i had seen S3 earlier in the thread.
if the 380 does a shade over 100W from just over 25W of carrier with the rf power control in the fully clockwise position then you're top shelf. that's with the top gun enabled.
