Power Mods - Other finals?

I am looking into other finals that may work in the 2510.

What I don't know is what the input power to the final is.

Someone told me that the MRF455 requires 1.3 watts in.

Is this an accurate guideline to use in sourcing other finals?

Thanks,

Steve

"Carl Merrill's power mod changes the config of the Q134 stage to

provide gain. What happens if we do this with the NTE340 in

there? Will we get better drive from the 2SC2166?"

You would assume that the NTE340 and the Common-Emitter mod together will increase the gain to the 2SC2166. Each provides a slight gain improvement on their own.

I know the MRF497, SD1446 and the 2SC2990 require more drive (have lower gain figures) than the MRF477 (The 477 has the highest gain figures of all of these) or the MRF455.

I would be interested in your findings of the SD1487..

RFparts has some of the best prices on transistors I have found. $2.50 for a 1969 final, you can't beat that. As high as almost $11.00 bucks at Mouser electronics<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/eek.gif ALT=":eek"> ...
