If you like old school built like a sherman tank go Astron. If you prefer newer style lighter weight then MegaWatt. Make sure you buy the MegaWatt direct, there are chinese knock offs out there.
Can't say enough good things about my 36 Amp Megawatt supply. It's been running 24/7 for several years now, powering my radios and Palomar 200 amp.
It was reasonably priced, generates no RFI, and has a nice quiet fan.

IMO power supplies belong in the get-what-you-pay-for category. Spending the money for a quality model now may mean you'll never have to buy another. Beware that some budget priced switching-type PS's can cause big problems with RFI.
Couldn't agree more. It could double as a boat anchor and wasn't cheap, but it never makes a sound, voltage never wavers, supplies all the amperage I need with room to spare and absolutely zero RFI. Worth every penny.
I run big linear ASTRON's ...I have a 38 amp cont. and a 45 amp cont. built for commercial service...Also have SS-50 switcher for back-up...great supply also.
I also have a 75 amp surge JETSTREAM "switcher" for my VHF/UHF "400w bricks"...works well also

The Megawatts and similar budget supplies work great for cb & higher frequencies. Can't go wrong. For the ham side, they start throwing out nasty RFI around 24mhz and below. Again, NO noise at 11 meters and higher.
When new my Megawatt 36 Amp was totally RF quiet down to about 2 MHz. It got really noisy down in the AM broadcast band. I put a cheap line filter on the AC input and mounted the filter and the supply in a small metal case with a grounded plug. Now I have zero RFI anywhere from 0.5 to 30 MHz.
What will it be powering? I use several Kenwood, Tripp Lite, and Powermax, ranging from 25 to 100 amp, depending on the demand and equipment being used.
