Usually about 175-200 mobile, 100-200 on the base. If I give it all I have, I can get about 400 out of my KLV-550. But I usually run a Galaxy 250 Blackface Base (2 x 2290), at right around 200.

I have two mobile CB radios; both out-of-the-box stock condition. I only use them when four-wheeling with friends or clubs, so the stock freqs and power are more than adequate for keeping in touch over a several mile radius.

I also have two hand-held CBs for contingency/loaner/hiking up a trail from the 4X4, etc.

For DX I go to the HF ham bands or IRLP.

" Both of my 2970s are running TS 350 HDs." Can you clarify this post? I sure as heck hope you are not running a 2970 into a Texas Star 350.

I found 100-200 clean watts on AM is about all I needed for mobile. Let me talk to anyone I could hear and for the most part let people who could hear me, talk back.

I ran as much as a kW for a while just to play with it, people could hear me waaaay before I could hear any of them, which was just sort of dumb.

100-200 makes CB during peak skip useful for local comms during daylight, otherwise you won't get over the noise level.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
