just run it, you will be fine that radio on full power only does 8-9amps max,, i tested mine with my inline amp meter

thats 70 watts and no issues....why do people make such a stink about the setup i know about engine noise and most radios nb/anl limits that out

Just because that works in for him does not make it a great idea for every vehicle. Some cig lighter plugs have dinky wire, some don't. Accessory ports should have a higher rating, say 20 amps.

There are two issues to watch for, voltage drop, and heating up the factory wire too much.

That said I run cig plugs on all my radio's except my 257HP. I have done this for 17 years in company cars and have had no problems. Just keep an eye out for problems. Radio lights dimming, processor controlled radio's acting funny, and SSB audio warble. All signs you are starving the radio.

Most cigarette lighters require a 20 amp fuse. Soooo; that pretty much dictates how much you can run through that circuit. Think 9C1 summed it up pretty well already . . .

I think I found out the reason for noise in my mobile radio. 1.magmounted antenna instead of hard mount 2.grounded to the seat bolt instead of directly to the battery.
