I have one of these laying around and I want to bring it back to life. All stock, limiter intact.I am looking to have it NPC/RC set up but I don't have a decent tech in Las Vegas to do it.I understand you need a scope to do it right and I dont have one.

Any suggestion's on a good tech to "wake this sleeping giant up"?

Thanks all

Is this the US version of the Grant or the Export version?

Sorry it took me so long to respond,I am driving my ass off, guess i'm going to have to get a satilite in the truck!

US version 40ch + USB &LSB Clean box and face It was a great deal and I like the unique look,I just kept it put away cause' without a power mic,it is just to clean (wimpy!) and I can't use a 575 in the KW.

I considering replacing my tired old 148 in the 4WD urban assault vehicle with it but it's got to get some swat to boot out the 148 w/sp1a (Major audio!,just getting a little muddy from over usage I guess) And I love the sound of those NPC/RC rig's,Thought it would be a good little front end with the mod.

CM4102,

Is this a very early Pres. Grant ? It would have the upd858c PLL in it, if so. Should you deside to ever part with it, let me know. I have been looking for one that has not been messed with, for a long time.

I don't know which VR in the 79-290 is the "Mod Pot", or even if it has one. However, I found these:

MICROPHONE GAIN MODIFICATION

Chip resistor R138 controls mic gain decreasing the value of the resistor increases the gain. Generally have 270 ohm, the value can be as low as 150. If too much gain is used oscillation may occur.

79-290 Q-24 Audio limiter

That's about all I could find. CB World informer in a Dec. 1996 review says there is a potentiometer for adjusting the Mod, but fails to list which one it is.

Take care.
