President Lincoln Crunchy audio on RX

When I turn the volume down, the audio sounds crunchy and nasty.
when I turn the volume up, more "white noise" comes in and it sounds normal.
Are they all like this?
I recapped it, no difference.

Does AM sound better or worse than sideband?

Or the same?

Is it the speaker? Have you tried an external one?

lol it was the speaker...oh well it needed a recap anyway.
