W5LZ, Not really, you have to be a amateur radio operator and the rules still apply. You get 90 days free so I will not cost you anything. I have talked to other hams all over the world.
It works like a real radio. Hay just an idea.

Isn't this the same as Echolink ? But Echolink is free. I learned of this site ( qso.net )the other day from a local Ham.

No it isn't the same as Echolink. QSO.net is chat software, and echolink is communications software with chat software built in. If you think that Echolink is only chat software, you haven't any idea what Echolink is.

I know what Echolink is. I was referring to the the chat aspect of it. Echolink has far more capabilities. I just can't see paying for an Amateur chat when you can get the same thing for free with Echolink.

I am a little quick to jump the gun on Echolink haters. It seems to be popular to bag on things that are different or misunderstood. I took your post for something it wasn't.
