I have the QT-60. I really like it. So, looking at the QT-80 I get 20 more watts and 15 meters. I like 15 meters, but using a Wilson 1000 and a tuner might not be terribly efficient. I think the QT-80 has a better menu system. The 8 pin mic jack is a bonus. Just like the 6666, the knobs are crowded. Don't know if it's worth swapping out the QT-60, though.

I think I will eventually get one for a base rig.

Anyone elso prefer the QT-80 over the QT-60 in a mobile environment?

I really suggest reading the at-6666 pro (identical to the qt80) thread and you will find everything you're asking and then some. At the time of the qt80 release all we had to compare it to at the moment was the 5555N2 (identical to the qt60)so you will find those comparisons there as well. There's lot's of info that will be directly related to 15 meters as mentioned in your question.

Last year I bought them both and had them side by side and preferred the QT80. I found the QT80 menu system better, as you noted, and surprisingly, the display was actually easier to read. Something about a sea of orange and a lack of contrast, as well as a busy stryker-style meter that I didn't care for on the QT60. The physical buttons and layout was better on the QT80. I didn't care for the long row of non-desript buttons across the bottom on the QT60.

Both radios worked great and were equals as far as receive and transmit go. The power output difference isn't enough to worry about, especially since I turn down the QT80 a bit anyway to keep the heat down.

As always, it comes down to personal preference.
