Anyone else is free to jump in and add whatever is helpful too - BTW . . .

OK, you need a watt meter, three decent quality jumper cords, ~300w dummy load, and the radio under test - first.

Hook up the radio under test to a power supply, connect one of the jumper cords to the radio and the input of the watt meter, and then the output of the meter goes thru the 2nd jumper and connects to the dummy load.

Set the radio to AM mode, turn down the mic gain to zero, and key the mic. Watt meter should be set to lo watt scale. Record the settings for low power and high power using your variable power control on the radio.

Radio should read about 2w on low and 8-10w on high/no modulation.

Just for starters before the amp is hooked up.

Ever considered getting a Daiwa watt meter?

I gotta say this first: That radio won't work with that amp. The radio just has too much power to drive that amp cleanly. If the radio exceed 12w/peak watts in AM/low setting into that amp, it will overdrive it.

Peak power, no one uses average when setting up an amp, unless they are kidding themselves.

It is all about the devices that are in the amp that dictates how it must be set up. The rest of the hoopla from the amp mfrs is nothing more than a sales gimmick to get people to buy their stuff. The device mfr is the one to be believed, since they spec the parts.

Either a single final radio with your 250 amp - or your 2950CD radio with a TS500 amp would be best and proper. Even under those two options, adjustments to the radios output will necessary and needed for best results.

Nice looking radio. Anyone have any opinions On this radio? Now I know I am going to get some haters Im just asking questions!!

I have listen to several men in the last year now talking about how their radio would drift.
One such operator out of California that I have talked to for the last 3 yrs, had to send his (2) 6900's to a tech in order to keep them from drifting. Even after being worked on, they still had a slight drift when they got heated up - but not like they did when they were new.

For me, I would stay away from the 69FFB4......

I had a 6900f25 for a while , the low power version of this radio.
It was not too bad after a warm up period when I was running the radio in the house on a power supply.
In the mobile it was another story as it drifted on SSB enough to make me get tired of bumping the fine tune around to stay on freq.
I traded it off to a local that ran it on AM and he was fine with it.
I can only imagine how it would act with a amp strapped to the bottom cover.
Run forest run.

Thank you for the replies .. Think I will just leave it alone .. I have a 2950CD and a tx star 250 that should work...Just need to know where to run the rf power on the 2950cb for ssb..

Underthesun on YouTube has a video of same setup.. may want to look at that.. if you had the 250HDV, you could run the 2950 set all the way down and the dial-watt on and get about 240 out it.. without the dial-watt on he was pushing over 300 with his TS250 which can't be good..

My 2950CD has a AM high setting inside (and AM low setting) so if you can find a good tech they should be able to set a max of sorts maybe..

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
