which is better radio and why?

They are both good radio's. Since the DX is the newer version I suppose it should be alittle better. The old Orange display 2970's had a very large heat sink and were heavy radio's. The new ones have a low profile heat sink bump.

Ranger 2970DX

The DX version cover 24Mhz to 32Mhz and it have the green display.
