Nice video. Thanks. Great transceivers. AM is nice and loud with these compared to many HF rigs. That's one reason why they're so popular IMO.
I keep one with the analog power supply and the (2)2290 amp on the bench at all times. Have another similar as a back up. Once and a while, I cycle in an old RCI 2990 and a RCI 2290DX. They are very similar with the addition of an echo board. The push button rubber strips were yellowed on those so I replaced them with nice new white ones.
I picked up two 15VDC 40 amp Meanwell switcher power supplies that I intend on "shoe-horning" into the two 2995DX's, but the original analog powers supplies have yet to fail
FYI: The amplifier heat sink cooling fan kit (or similar) is a necessity for survival.
Talk about your 'turd' radios. Had too many problems with the 2995 I had, so I unloaded it. Never again! Mode switch problems even after it was replaced. Other maladies too. Otherwise, it is a RCI 2950 under the hood with a two pill/2290 amp. Shame it never was consistent.
