I bought this radio brand new and tuned up at R & R Communications. The radio worked great but the talkback was wayyy too loud for me. I saw on the cbtricks site for the Galaxy 88 (I think) that you could run a 4k7 resistor from the c154/r207 trace to the c187/r235 trace and it would lower the talkback volume (BTW, the 88 has the 3600 14c board in it). I opened my Ranger (which has a 3600 15C board) and couldn't find the c144/r207 however I did find the c155/r207 in the same spot and I also found the c187/r235 trace. I soldered the resistor across and when I put it in my truck the talkback was loud as heck still but also the receive wasn't as strong. I clipped the resistor off and receive was still not so good. If I ask for a radio check I can hear people coming back but they sound like they're miles away. I receive ok if someone is near me or has a big radio. I am wondering if I could have messed up one of the caps or resistors by doing this, as looking at the schematics afterward the 2 boards are slightly different. Does anyone have any ideas on my problem? Thanks!!
