I bought a used RCI 2950. I took it to a tech because it would not transmit. Repair of loose solder on spring fixed it. He told me someone had put RED Caps in it. Something to do with Modulation. I got home and opened it up and saw 2 red things soldered to the back side of the circuit board. They looked like resistors to me, I thought Caps were Large round canisters. Can someome explain this Mod to me and what it is suppose to do? Oh yeah skip rolled yesterday for about 30mins and talked to Miss. First skip in weeks.

Is there a way you could take a pic and post it? That would help the cause for sure.

Sounds like he modded the 2SB754 transistor circuit somehow, where are these "red caps" located? Are they near the 2SB754 and audio chip?

Let me know, I might be able to tell you what the "red caps" are.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
