Im really thinking about ordering an rci 2950cd radio but the only thing that is stopping me is the display is so ugly to me. It looks like a Christmas tree. blue digits, green buttons, red and green meter red icons etc, eewww. Any way is it really involved or very time consuming to change the keypad led's to blue? Then the rig will at least be color coordinated, and it looks soooo much better. They should have done this at the factory pshhh

Pretty sure the LEDs on the pushbutton board are surface mount. You'll be working in the confined space between the pushbutton mechanisms to change them.

Best of luck. So far nobody has talked me into changing the color of one of these.

Well that's not cool, lol. Im to blind to work on smd, getting old. Bummer, i was hoping for old school led's.

IIRC the older 2950 radios from the 1990s used 3mm LEDs with wire leads on the pushbutton board. If one of those will plug in and fit in place of the board found in the newer radio you could look for a junker, change the LEDs on the old board and plug it into the new radio. But the holes in the pc board are plate-through, with a metal rim lining the inside surface of each hole. Does make getting all the solder loose from the old LED more work.

Even if it's possible, nothing easy about it.

Ok well i guess scratch that plan then. Found a radio dealer that will do it for $30 as an option if you buy the radio
But i have never dealt with them or seen any reviews or nothing so meh. Oh well
