I feel like a "CB Dummy " but I will disclose / admit my ignorance for not reading Page 15 of the User's Manual.
I was not aware that RCI ships-out these radios with the 12v Power Cord with the RCA Phono plug for the external fans not being inserted into the 12v socket at the back of the radio. The power cord is "tucked-away" in the fan housing cavity. Nothing in Chapter 4 (Operation) in the User's Manual directed me to plug-in the power cord for the fans.
When I was using the radio prior to identifying the defective installation of TDA2003, I assumed that the fans were thermostatically controlled. When the fans did not cycle during transmitting, I thought, hey, life is great! Right? Wrong! Obviously, the Design Engineers had a reason to add fans to the radio. Would a part and / or a component eventually fail without the fans operating? Warranty issue? Yeah right!
Thank you Porkchop for educating me.
