Wondering if it is possible to disable amp and install final in the open slot on board to get it to basically be an hp radio ? All other components appear to be on board as if it's a ready deal/ Any input would be welcomed on this. Thanks ahead

well, the short answer is yes, it is possible.

but with this radio being an SMT style radio, the likelyhood of a "home tech" being able to do it is not great.

i doubt you will find a set of instructions online for this reason.

just so you know, adding a second final to that radio and no amp will be less than 1/2 an S unit better than it would with a single final.

lots of work, lots of potential for damage, and not much noticeable gain afterwards= not worth it.

you could end up with a 500 dollar paperweight!

My question is WHY??? You have a hot rod radio, why try to turn it into a 2985? If you want a 35 watt radio buy one, let the 2995 be all it can be and be happy.
I am amazed at how many people go and buy the high powered radio and then first thing they want to do is have it de-tuned so they can run a small 2 pill amp with it. ????? WTF?

Sell it and but the non amplified one. Or just buy the right radio for your needs. Like posted above it is possible, but why waste a good radio.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
