I'm having a problem and it only seems like on warm days there's signal spikes I can try turning the channel and it's still there I first tried soldiering the coax Jack and making sure the ground was on. There's also a electric hum along with it I bought a noise clipper and that fixes it. But in cold days it doesn't hum or need the noise clipper. The rx tx light is flashing if that matters at all and all my other radios don't do this what could be causing this does it need a new battery, a broken solder joint but either way it's only a problem on semi warm days cold days it works like it should but rx tx still flashing green

I would check the microphone cable/connection. do you have the same problem with a different mic?

That battery wouldn't have an effect on anything. Have you tested without antenna attached? Are spikes/hum still present? Have you tried a different plug in your house?

You have to determine if the noise is being caused internally or externally first. You can rule our external but unhooking coax - if noise still exists then try plugging into different outlets, if noise still exists try plugging into outlet at a friends house (not in same neighborhood), if noise stlll exists then you can be pretty sure it's originating in the radio itself.

I can't remember but don't think 2980wx has option to power with 12v plug on back? If it does you can try running it in a vehicle to see if the noise goes away, if so then problem is with ac/dc power supply in radio. I guess you could also try to bypass the power supply with an external power supply and see if the noise goes away. At least then you can rule out power supply.

It works fine on cold days like today same radio same set up problems not present on cold days I'll try unplugging the coax next Time it does it and listen
