Hey: Gang.

Had a buddy brought me an old Courier Centurion 40D.

It transmits on AM but not on SSB.

No tx on SSB is due to not transmit audio.

I have not recapped the entire radio yet but I did replace all the electrolytic caps
in the audio section & replaced the audio chip as it was pitch black from
overheating I guess.

Anyway after replacing the above mentioned parts I still have no receive audio or transmit audio.

It will only tx on AM.

What is the tiny relay in the back corner for ? is this in the audio path ?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys.

Thanks.

Bruce.

The relay is in TX. This does not explain why you have no RX audio. The first point of failure with a toasted aF amp, is reverse polarity. Check the AF amp IC you just installed. Scope the input and output. If you have signal in, then look at out. If nothing, isolate the output and check. If you do have out, then look for shorts after the chip.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
