Radio is a sears SSB 23 channel, appears to be unmodified.

Receiver is very sensitive on AM, with RF gain turned to the max I hear many stations, in other words it works.

Now anytime someone comes within a few miles of it running a kicker, it squeals a terrible sound. Any time somone keys up within a quarter mile of it on a 4watt radio it squeals.

I turn the gain all the way down and it helps some, but not enough to be used in a convoy or on the trails.

Also it only does this on AM, SSB works fine.

Any suggestions on what's broke? Normally these old radios die of rotten caps and rusted finals but this one was buried inside a closet for the last 30 years, looks new on the inside.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
