Reclaim LSB 16

Given the various comments folks have shared, I've proposed to folks that we consider taking our SSB efforts to LSB 16 and USB 35. So, let's try a USB 35 net on Sunday, December 15, 2024 starting at 12:00 noon eastern time. We'll run all afternoon and make the usual effort to reach out every hour on the hour. We can compare notes afterwards. I'm curious to see if this complements the LSB 16 effort.

Mark your calendars. Catch you Sunday.

End of Year SSB Net: December 28th (LSB 16) and 29th (USB 35)

The USB 35 experiment appears to have gone well. At the same time, some folks are still liking the LSB 16 effort - especially for the folks that still use old 23 channel radios. Let's close out the year with 2024's final week-end hosting an SSB net that accommodates both.

Saturday, December 28 will be our last LSB 16 net for the year. We will begin at noon eastern/11:00A.M. central/9:00A.M. pacific and aim for hailing every hour on the hour.

Similarly, we'll do our next - and our final 2024 - USB 35 net on Sunday. We'll follow the same protocol of starting at noon eastern/11:00A.M. central/9:00A.M. pacific and aim for hailing every hour on the hour.

Get the word out and your radios tuned and your SWRs where they belong. We'll talk December 28th and 29th.

It'll be interesting next Saturday. I'll have my Cherokee AH-100 SSB walkie talkie hooked up to my Starduster clone. Simple. Barefoot. Mother Nature dependent.
May the skip gods shine their light on us.
I have tried 16 lsb countless times and have never heard any activity there on my base and my mobiles. Leaves me scratching my head.

Its been a bit since trying 16 LSB, but sounds like this next coming weekend is the time to try it again. I will hope 40 USB stays busy on that Sunday. (I have my dipole centered on 37, so 16 may be pushing it just a little bit... :P But should still be ok.)

I find people using LSB on 16 from time to time. There is an especially active group in the Great Lakes area that I often hear.
Of all the channels we've tried in this manner 16 LSB was the one I made the most WWDX contacts on. 35 & 40 are both very noisy on the west coast of N.A. (35LSB is Australian call channel & 40 has tons of Mexico).
Channel 16 gets a lot of splatter here from California stations on 17AM, but it's still a better choice than 35 or 40. Hopefully those 17AM stations won't be too much of a problem for me next weekend.

I have family here next weekend but I plan on finding time to participate in the 16 LSB exercise. Hope to connect with some of you again!

I think I have a short video of when we last talked, but I just found the one when I talked to WDX-1863 on my old Kraco SSB lol.
