Remove wx board from the Uniden 78 Elite?

Has anyone ever removed the stupid weather board? The blue wire on the board, in a 2-pin connector with a yellow wire, must be attached to the gray wire on the CB PA switch; otherwise, RX is gone. The weather control knob can be unplugged and removed, and the CB still works fine. The yellow and black connector that ties into the antenna section of the main board from the weather board can also be removed. But if the 7-pin connector at the front edge of the weather board is removed, the CB will not receive. The other side of that connector connects to the main board just to the left of VR2 and is marked JV170. Any idea how to do this?

I have not ran into a low IQ WX board. I have run into some low IQ CB'er's some ignorant ones as well though. I wish we could remove them from the hobby. Same for all of the like minded amateur radio operators!

So this board and the coresponding switch or knob ate at you so much morning, noon, and night and got so deep into your head rent free that you could not take it any more and had to rip it out just because?

A lot of people like having WX and even install it into radio's that do not have it just like they also add FM. The rest just pretend it is not there and ignore it no harm no foul!

Just in case your phone should alert you at some point that a storm is comming or a child has been abducted there is no board or switch you need to hack out of your phone.

Did you try checking for continuity between pins and parts of the recieve circuit yet? That might likely get you where you want to go. I would compare a none WX equiped Uniden 78 and it's schematic to the one you have in front of you.

You can always plug it back in and just ignore that it is there.

The board is known to cause issues, and I've seen it myself many times, and yes,s I have that's the crazy part, it looks like it's just an add-on on, but if you remove that connector from the main board, it's dead as a stump.
