I have never used one in the hundreds of connections I have made over the last 40 years of radio.

Same here. I just toss them in my junk drawer. I don't even use them in CATV connections.

Looks like the green thingy did a disappearing act. That happens in the postal system occasionally. Would love to see the warehouse where all that stuff winds up.
