Anyone run a single amplifier for two rigs using antenna switches?
I need to lighten up on the weight of my station.
My setup is on a rolling utility cart and I store it in a different part of the room then I operate it in.
My disability is making it difficult to push and pull the.cart from where I store it to where I operate it.
I use a triple stage Phantom for my Madison for my SSB rig, and a Palomar 350z for my Sonar AM rig.
I'd like to retire the Phantom and use the 350z for both rigs. Removing the Phantom will make the cart about 40 lbs lighter.
I know it would be easy to just switch the coax to the desired rig, but my disability makes it impossible to remove the coax then screw the cable connectors back in.
Is using a number of antenna switches to operate a single amplifier on two separate rigs viable? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
PS.
Although I've changed what's on the cart since the photo was taken the pic shows you the cart and what I'm dealing with.
The second pic pretty much represents what I have to push and pull into its operating position. A triple stage Phantom ,350z, Madison with speakers, Sonar 2340, Demco modulator, 2 Autek wm1's, 2 D104's, and an MFJ 828. 2015-04-17 13.22.31~2.png

Should be fine. Just be aware that there are many low quality antenna switches on the market.

That depends on the antenna switch you run. I have a 4 on 1 Alpha Delta, model Delta-4 which has 4 positions and one common. Instead of using antennas, I use radios. As you can see, on the pics, I have four transceivers but only 3 are connected to the Alpha Delta Switch ( they are one of the best manual switches in the market) .

The “ common” connector jumper go to the amplifier below. In other words, if I want to use my Stryker, I select the position 3, want the Yaesu , I select one, ICOM is on position 3. All of them use the same amplifier.

After the amplifier, I have an Ameritron RSC-4 to select up to 4 antennas. This kind of antenna selector ( control box ) let you use only one coax cable go into your station, instead of 4. ( you can select a manual antenna switch but you will have as many cables as many antennas you have.

This antenna switch is electric. The relay box is up in the tower where I have a Mosley yagi, on top of the yagi, there is a Sirio Gain Master, and on a side arm, 40/80 double bazooka antenna. Outside the tower, on a 12 feet pole on the middle of the house, I have a Sirio 827. With the HF radios, I can use any of the four antennas and for obvious reasons, the Striker can only use 2 antennas, the Sirio Gain Master and the Sirio 827.

Here are the pics
