I know how you feel. I've mentioned before, my area is a poor area of Appalachia. We still have a decent amount of operators that still talk daily and still wheel and deal on equipment.
Some of us old guys are still in there almost every day, with a few still running mobile. Kind of like a time capsule.
Sadly, lots of good dudes have passed. But, it's still nice to have someone to talk to for a simple radio check or chew the fat on the way to get groceries or an appointment. Just about everyone with a base, still run the big watts.
