I like Scrap'rs idea, but what you have found will work great. Nice that you were able to sell some stuff to get what you really wanted. If you have a computer in the shack, I'd hook it up to the rig and use Ham Radio Deluxe. Really a cool program, and will keep you from having to fiddle with the little knobs on the Yaesu!

so basically I only have about $225 tied up in the upgrade, but I have a lot less radios, but a lot more of a radio

RG8X is only good for low bands, not a good choice at all for 2 meters.
