my first a 99 was great,low vswr on 10 and 11 meters.
lightning killed it.
new a 99 never would set right for any band. i trimmed top mast to little change.
yesterday i dropped it n removed top mast abd screwed a broken 102 whip in. turned the rings to the middle. on 40 i got 1.1 to 1. from 40 down it wouldnt move the needle on meter. go up above 40 and vswr rises fast.
got some good dx on 38lsb then below 1 am too.
it will stay set like that. when my new sirio gets here im tuning it for 10 meters and will use a coax switch.
the broken 102 whip is about 74" long tad longer than a 99 manual states for where im operating.
every man made item dont always follow protocall

The likely reason it goes up rapidly above channel 40 is the SS section you put on it is "a tad longer than a 99 manual states".

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
