Hi guys, An old thread of mine was revisited a few days ago and made me recall that I have one Ultra Whack noise toy left that I've been saving. Doubt now that I'll ever use it and would like to see someone else enjoy it and put it back on the air again. I considered myself very lucky to find 2 of these over the last 30 years and I had one installed in a D104 along with one of the Tweety Birds that I used to make and that was one bad-ass Noise Toy microphone. Sold that mic a few years ago.
Anyway .... I have one Space Cricket made by Electronic Rainbow, cat.# SC108, from the '80's or 90's. Coolest damn thing I've ever heard. They called it Space Cricket but I always thought that was a wimpy name for this thing. It is a Two-Tone sound and Variable Speed. On slower speeds it sounds just like original Star Trek Photon Torpedos being fired. Speed it up and it sounds more like some kind of Death Ray noise. Speeds in-between would be their own unique sound. Plays it's sound from real slow to real fast. Pair it with a radio that has Echo - and adding various levels of Echo Effect make this thing sound totally out of this galaxy !!
Toy board originally had an adjustable surface mount pot on the board. I removed that an added an external pot of the same value so a Speed Adjustment could be mounted on the mic for instant use. Does not need an on/off switch. Has a Momentary push button for operation. Simple 3-Wire hook up. Red for 9-12volt +, Black for V neg and White for Audio. Really well suited for installing inside a power desk mic like a D104, but could be just as easily installed inside a radio.
I previously wrapped the board with electrical tape so it was ready for installation. I did not want to unwrap it just to take a pic as there's really nothing special to see ... just a small circuit board with parts on it.
.
Needless to say, this E.R. Space Cricket is unobtainum. Ultra Rare, now a one-of-a-kind Collector's item. You might be the only person in the country with one if you get this baby and put it back on the air.

Will trade for a large single-window Dosy meter that works 100% and isn't all scratched up. Something like a TC 4001 type.
