So Cal
I have two Wouxun HT's. Moleculo hooked me up with a KG-UVD1P a couple of months ago and it's great. In fact, it's the same radio that he used to review and try this mod on --> http://www.worldwidedx.com/radio-radio-related-modifications/62063-wouxun-kg-uvd1p-software-mod.html

One thing I've noticed is that the squelch points on the two HT's are VERY different.

The new model (KG-UV3D) needs to have the squelch set to 5 or 6 to quite the noise, while the KG-UVD1P sitting right next to it on the same frequency will quiet with the squelch set on 2. Even with both sitting side by side, set at 2 on one and 6 on the other, the newer unit will have noise break the squelch while set on 6, while the older unit set on 2 remains quite.

I assume that it's was just a simple calibration/indexing issue. Is anyone aware of a "fix", or should I just get over it?

On a plus note, the instructions on the KG-UV3D were MUCH easier to understand than the old instructions. I even learned some things about the old radio that I didn't grasp reading the old instructions. Both use the same programming software, so I just had to hook the new one to the USB cable and upload the freq's. Nice...

Interesting findings between the two version of this radio. I suspect that the squelch setting issue is probably just a squelch "scale" tweak that they made in the firmware. It is possible that it's a receive alignment difference from the factory, as well. I guess the main thing is that if it's working fine, then there's nothing to worry about.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
