so i got this radio at a garage sale yesterday for a dollar and 25 cents. its beat and has been messed with but its a phillipine radio with a 1969 final. i tuned it up and it works fine...the strange part is if im on channel 18 for example i can here the person im talking to on channel 17, 16 and 15...radio is right on frequency and i tuned up the receive best i could...anyone ever experience this or have a clue what might be the problem..thanks

It could be perfectly ordinary bleedover on those channels which occurs with strong signals. It can also happen if the channel switch is buggered or the wiring from that has been modified but in that case the person you are talking to would notice that s/he is on a different channel to what you say you are on.
