Hi all. Its been a while. I stopped fixing up CBs and selling them a few years back as everyone around stopped using CBs and went to modified 10 meter radios. Thats why Ive been away.

Here is the situation...
I have a friend Im trying to help out. He got a Stryker 955 v1 at a truckstop. The guy needed fuel so he bought it for $250 bucks. I checked the going price and it sounds like he got a good deal. Anyways, it seems to work just fine except the "talkback".

I have not had a chance to open it up and see if anyone has done anything besides opened it up for 11 meters. But here is the issue...
With his external speaker connected the RX sounds nice and clear, but the talkback is really crunchy. Like its turned up way to high. I hopped in his truck and turned the talkback down as low as possible and turned of the echo off and its still sounds horrible.
I then unplugged the ext speaker and going with just the internal speaker all sound fine. Talkback the RX is clean and clear. Huh?

My question...
Is it possible an external speaker can have clear RX but horrible Talkback even when its turned down low? He is using an old Motarola speaker he has had for decades but if one is clear and not the other...

Should I tell him to buy a new speaker or is it possible something is wrong with the talkback circuit only when using ext speaker?

Thanks for your help and time.

Jerry...
