ok, i built a new antenna and the swr is off the chart, but as i talk the swr will come down to about a 5.5:1....... HELP.

money is tight so rebuilding will have to wait, but ajusting is in my limit.... with in reason.

sorry for driving you guys nuts.

1. Exactly what kind of antenna? Without that, we're lost.

2. Use an antenna analyzer and find out just where the SWR low points are. Then, without changing anything, plot where the 50 ohm points are (they don't always occur at the same frequency.

If you don't have access to an analyzer, plot SWR from Channel 1 through 40. See if there's any dip at all. If SWR is "off the chart", I'd look for a bad connection in the feedline - but I'd want to know what kind of antenna, and its dimensions.

mine is on the wall, i had one in the same place for 3 years with zero issuse and then some how i got a broken element so now i have built a new one and i have nothing but nightmares since.

I hope you don't think I was insulting your intellegence. That is just the first place I would've started. Mine didn't like being hung on the wall at all. Maybe it was the material I used to make it or something in my walls?? I don't know. I wish I was more help to ya. Good luck.

are you calling me stupid?!? lmao, no i took zero offence.

honestly i am smart enough to know i am not "that" smart. i still have plenty to learn.

yes the materials are different this go around, my first dipole used a thin soild core wire for the leads, this time i am using a much heavier stranded wire.

i did not even thing that a change in materials would have made this much difference.

i will try different things to see what works. i wish someone made a desent indoor apartment friendly antenna. my mom and dad were friends with a family in the early 80s and they had a pole standing in the corner and that was there antenna, atleast that is what i was told. i wish i could find information on it but i have not yet.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
