Just picked up this little gem in a recovered semi. It's basically a Malaysian 148 (5 pin) with an echo and a connector for an external frequency counter. Interior says RANGER all over it.

Once I got it all cleaned up (tobacco juice in the mic - ICK!) it seemed to work fairly well except that channels 1 though 7 don't work. It's not a big deal, I never go there anyhow but if it's an easy fix I wouldn't mind trying to get all 40 back.

Any suggestions?
 

Well as it turned out all it needed was a bit of adjustment to the VCO. The channel selector is a a bit worn- no doubt from frequent changing of channel- but it works on all 40 again.

    Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
