Updated my setup a bit.. Still running my 139XLR and the TX600 amp. Changed out the Drake wattmeter for an old Transel meter. Added my Kenwood TS-430S to use on Fm for the time being, and also added a Sears 10 channel graphic equalizer to boost my receive audio and tone down the noise. Same antenna, 4 element quad on the flatside atop my 60' tower.

Been running this mint hand wired D201 I picked up about a month ago. It’s amazing. It had all original Tram labeled tubes with the exception of the Sylvania modulation and final tubes.
I’ve replaced all the Japanese made tram labeled tubes with NOS tubes that I prefer.

President lincoln ll, 15ft of LMR-240 to a Wilson 1000 and/or a Sirio 5000.
Also switch out with my Galaxy DX 94HP and use both about equal time.
Both antennas are mag mounts and both are re-coaxed with LMR-240.
(I'm kinda hung up on LMR-240 as it's about the same size as Mini 8 and works
very well for mobile installations). Even RG58 is good for mobiles though, just a little more "lossy".
Both work very well.

Selling the Heathkit sb 1000, got a Acom 500 S from 160 to and 4 meter since i use 6 and 4 a lo as well, 500+ watts sweet spot for me and it runs fine 20 watts in full output.

I'm running a super minimal setup these days. Stock Anytone 5555N2, 1975 vintage Palomar 200 amp and a homemade horizontal delta loop antenna hanging in the trees at 36 feet. That is all.

It's making contacts daily......Europe in the morning, North and South America all day, and Australia/Asia/Alaska/Pacific in the evening.

Peak of the sunspot cycle right now, so even a few watts and a minimal antenna will get out really well, at least on a clear channel!

Dx engineering rg8x going to the switch and into a mfj-264 or the
Rg213 from the switch to outside then to a junction box with a lightning arrestor. From there it continues to the aluminum silver rod up about 28' to the feed point.

It works and I'm happy with it

Have had a lot of radios and microphones. Not sure why, but this particular radio/mic combo produces extremely loud (and clear) audio according to the locals. I hear the same comment when talking skip, too.

i’m not going to post photos or go into real details about my setup, however…

if you want unbelievably clean audio without using ancient sweep tubes, id strongly suggest using an mrf455 4-pill with extra low keying carrier - two watt deadkey is more than enough

use an [insert number] farad capacitor between the power supply and whatever sorcery youre displaying the gangsta lean over the airwaves with

for the cleanest audio ever, use something like a bencher ya-1 BETWEEN the radio and amp, then finally use a proper amphenol entry and exit based ferrite choke directly underneath the antenna - this should be part of the 90 degree angle itself fyi

Threw in the .CB Towel. Even 1KW power cannot make a contact on channel 6. I use Ham radio to listen now.
