It uses a 5mhz pto vfo.to mix the frequency. I think it still depends alot on the xtal for each band. So really you could connect a dds vfo to the xtal socket. It drifty, doesn't have am. The rx us nice. It's a "neat" usa made 80s radio without general coverage.025 if you like the radio why not try the dds will open the radio up .
The vfo's are not that expensive the labour installing maybe .
I might lose my Xtra license due to a felony back in the day when I was a teen. So im considering a life of grime on 11m lol. I don't know what I'll do if they pull my ticket but I'll find out when I renew and answer their new felony question. Maybe I won't even bother. I've got plenty of radios suited for 11m some are actually reg cb. I don't talk on 11m much any more. I don't talk on ham much anymore either.
