Just wanted to take this time to say thank you to all that has helped me out through the past few years when I needed help.

I feel the tension on this site from my recent thread of a rant. Some took it out of context, some took offense to it and some just can't let it go as just the rant that it was.

I never once claimed to be a know-it-all tech, I never claimed to be the best tech, hell I never CLAIMED to be a tech no more than my locals title me. I've said it several times before and I'll say it again, it's just a hobby for me.

You all have a great one, God bless. Peace, Love and happiness to each and every one of you guys/gals.

Big Thank You to those that helped me out with detailed info and theory on issues that arose on radios in the past several years. Your help and info was/is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you're saying so-long.. I truly hope not. Look, some folks here you need kiddie gloves to handle and others you need calloused hands and thick skin, while the majority I think are easy to talk to. Now that you know who is who, I wouldn't hang my feelings out there and certainly not judge yourself on harsh opinion. Keep doing you, I look forward to the posts.

I'm not going anywhere. Just decided not to post any longer. Seems like that one thread is now starting to bleed off into other threads I post asking for assistance, with snide remarks, as though they can't let it go as the rant it was.

I did notice one major thing about the reactions from my rant thread. All the ones that responded with snide, boastful, prideful remarks I've never heard of them before. Never once in the several years I've asked for assistance on this site have those certain individuals ever offered any help whatsoever to my questions, but they automatically jumped in on a rant to throw out their snide/sarcastic remarks, BUT NEVER ONCE SPOKE TO ME BEFORE!

I follow those that help others consistently, those that supply detailed information and theory. I've never even heard of a lot of those that responded to my rant thread. Guess it doesn't take much to call out the prideful/boastful/arrogant crew that doesn't offer help but instead will criticize those that are learning.

Now, I'm done with the rant thread, not bringing it back up again.

Sit back and pay attention, you'll notice some can't let things go, which proves their intellect.

You've always been a great guy Cable, as with several others on this site. Very helpful, insightful, thoughtful. Don't let others rub off on you to the point you become a sarcastic snob also.

Now, let's see which of those still can't let it go.

Peace...

Sh*t happens, how good your intentions are any forum is a mirror of society and bad people are there to break you down.
I started in satellite reception telly, and breaking codes for cards and common interfaces and are a ham for 48 years or so, building most my own stuff in the start by lack of funds and i liked building stuff.

Repaired a ton of 11 meter radio's as well, some serious basket cases where the owner still wanted it repaired i only brought radio's back to factory standard removed any gizmo's and hacks in them.

Some forum members weren't too happy of that and clobbered the radio's as soon they left the repair bank, finding out smoke isn't good coming from a radio.....
Oh well, i hope you keep writing here, don't let the bastids grind you down ;)

That doesn't mean they are "out to get you"! Or somehow demean you......

I can't speak for the others, but while I can and sometimes do repair radio gear, it is NOT my primary focus! My big focus is working DX stations on the so-called freeband frequencies, and the primary reason I joined this forum was that there are others here that do the same thing..............

Just because I or someone else hasn't personally offered to assist you in your radio repair endeavors doesn't make them a lesser person, nor does it mean they don't contribute to this forum in other positive ways.

My strong advice to you is to stick around here, carry on, don't let petty arguments get to you, and next time you feel the need to rant maybe choose a different venue......

Hawkeye, I want to thank you for the number of times that you replied to my threads with some help and direction!! I truly appreciate it any time someone leans in to give me some advice. I tell everyone that will listen that if it was not for each of you I would not be capable of making many of the repairs that I do.

Thanks so much my friend!!!

Hawkeye351, please don't interpret this as a "sermon"! Actually intended to be "encouragement"!!!!!

I truly hope that we have not seen the last posting from you.

In every forum that I have become part of... there are those willing to jump in and help, there are those who want to criticize your approach and there are those who just want to point out that you are wrong (WHATEVER IT WAS that you said!!!!!).

Of all forums that I haunt... THIS ONE is without a doubt the "most technical" AND the one loaded with the most HELPFUL people ALL willing to share their MANY MANY years of expertise and experience. Many forums are just "radio user" forums that try to give technical advice.... sometimes good .... sometimes bad. But THIS ONE..... it is easy to tell that there is REAL... HANDS ON EXPERIENCE here.

I would like to think that "every voice" that is heard here MAY have something useful for you. The sad truth is.... there are plenty that just seem "ruled by negativity". While they can't HELP.... nothing (not even DECENCY) stops them from taking pot shots at you, your experience level, your approach to a problem.... just ANYTHING!

I just find that one of the most useful tools I have is.... as "well tuned BS filter"!!!!

It is usually easy to pick out the genuine helpful postings. Typically... they are a mix of REAL GENUINE "detail"..... and expressions of patience, hope, and good wishes. It is also pretty easy to pick out the ones that just have a negative tone. The latter.... I don't even respond to. I refuse to engage. Petty arguments can not "continue" if I refuse to participate. I just.... IGNORE them.

So.... pause, reflect, have a coffee or a beer or whatever floats you.... but stick around!!!!! Folks like you help raise the bar in places like this. If you change your posting habits.... THEY will be inclined to think that THEY WON.... and feel empowered. Don't let them win.

Hawkeye351, as one of those that don't post much.. I saw your rant, recognized it as such and saw no issues with it.
Don't let the negative replies get to you.
It's an internet thing, ignore them and carry on ( I am well aware that that's easier said than done).

Take your time and hope to read more from you when you are ready.
cheers,
-
