Probably read about this in the news, but it was announced that Phil Everly of the 'Everly Bothers' died today at the age of 74.
Talk about your super-fine diatonic/third type vocal harmonies, these guys could really both sing and write. Their musical style was that of American Skiffle, with deep roots in country music. The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Buddy Holly, and many others music were influenced by the 'Bros'.
Almost every body in the US/UK have heard and liked their songs, as they had more than their share of chart toppers in their day (early 60's) and remained popular even several decades later:
