I remember the paperwork in the box with the radio, and I think I sent it in, but that's all I remember. Small town, with a population of around 2000 and there were no strangers. Me and a group of guys (16 Y/O) went by handles. Most guys kept them simple and I remember one of my friends going by seven, and I also remember booger. LOL... We used channel 12. And these were all mobiles.

As I recall all of the records were all lost in a fire long ago & they were on Micro Film. Heard it from a guy who was an Agent for the FCC long ago. Don't know if it's true but it really does not matter since I remember my call but it's useless today.
As I remember the license holder had to be 18 Years old?? I had bought my first from a friend for $10.00. It being a Globe Forgot the model # I traded up to a Sonar G nice radio. It wasn't mounted in my car sat on the transmission hump. Some times it would slide off onto the right floor. I would pull it back by the mic cord to change channel.
My CB license call was KJI1400, The two calls I remember I talked with were both CB repair guys. One was 20W5872 and the other was 20W???? one was in Lake Pleasent NY the other was at the top of Smith Hill By Utica New York.
I got my ham novice in the fall of 1965. and got drafted in fall of 66. Got avionic training at Fort Gordon 35K20 1967
Finally 1995 I relicensed as KD4IPN. I didn't have any ham gear so I bought a Ramsey 6 meter kit $49.95 back then. I had an ASP through the glass 6 meter antenna in the center of the windshield. Had many contacts back then.
My next radio was an intermittant Yeasu Ft757?? I gave that away. Years later I got a Yeasu 857D. It got the zebra strips about a year later. The atas120 quit working. I then went with Kenwood ts570 nice radio. I have a boring history for the last 10 years and maybe this afternoon I'l have my dipole connected again to my latest Kenwood TS650D I have owned for a year and never transmitted with it yet. I tries it with a bird Termline dummy load. I have to cut a 1 1/4 inch hole in my floor to run the conduit through and pull the coax through from the dipole at35 feet up two Hickory trees.
