Has anyone used a transverter to be able to Sideband on 2 or 6 meters through their 10 meter rig ? If so did it work ok ?

I used a Ten Tec 1208 transverter to convert 20m to 6m and it worked great.I also used an older Sinclair Radio Labs 10m to 2m transverter and it worked well also. The 6m transverter had about 15 watts out and I was able to make lots of contacts from here in Nova Scotia to the mid-west and southern states as well as Europe using a home brew 6 element beam.I never had very many contacts on the 2m transverter due to location and lack of local 2m SSB activity but I did run 10 watts out into an amp with 80 watts out into an 11 element Cushcraft beam and was able to work CW to a friend 275 miles away and that was with no "atmospheric enhancements".They are not the best way to add another band but they are not bad for the money if you can find a good used one.I don't use them any more as I now use an FT-857 that covers DC-daylight.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D">

I just bought a Kenwood 700a with crystals, vfo, vox-3 and encoder. I should get it today I can't wait to try it out ! I also have a 30 watt amp on the way.
