glad you found the problem. the old 858 radios are hard to beat for sure. I did a refurb on 3 of the washington 858 PLL radios about 3 years ago and rather use them on my base than any galaxy or other radio. I have a cherokee cb1000 and a magnum 3000B base. they just do not talk and hear as good as my Pres. washington radios.
How a fet went belly up just sitting on a shelf is still a puzzle to me; but congrats!

I am not sure how it could go bad sitting on a shelf ether but maybe they forgot to tell me that is why it was on the shelf? I will be posting pic when done I also changed the channel display to green and the meter to a galaxy smeter with a green led for back light and the red for tx. the radio is in pretty good shape as far a looks go.
