TS440, without tuner for parts or repair.
When I got it, was in really bad shape and display was cracked and I replaced the LCD only to find the board it was soldered too was cracked down the middle. Soldered about a dozen bridges across the crack and have had no problems from that part of the radio since.
I got about a year of good use out of it but now its falling apart, I dont have equipment to fix it so I am giving up on it.
The good
It powers on
AM/FM RX still works
SSB TX works
SSB RX works if you tap on it
AM TX works if you tap on it
It has an aftermarket speech processor, which sounds really good.
It has a new liquid plasma display
It worked perfectly for about 6 months
No dots, never had the dots problem, ever.
Non-smoking environment as long as I had it (only because I cant smoke in the house)
The bad
AM has no carrier until you tap it
SSB has no RX or very weak RX till you tap it a few times
FM TX just died today.....instead it sends a horrible noise
Occasional pops and fart sounds on AM
AMC meter quit last week
Missing outer part of power button
RX gain knob will go past zero and around again, but otherwise works
keypad bounces just a little bit, i didnt know what keypad bounce was when I fixed the display unit otherwise would have cleaned it up.grrrr
I may or may not can find the original power connector on the back of it.
Light rust on back of case.
I think its worth about $200
will trade for test equipment, 50mhz o-scope, function or signal generator, freq counter, MFJ analyzer, bird 43 setup fw/slug(s), or similar type things.
also looking for president/uniden HR2510, chipswitched HR2600. RCI29xx, Magnum 257HP or similar radio.
Might also trade for a powerful dual band 2m/440 mobile.
