tuning for max pep

Hi there, I've been tuning for max carrier then over couple.
I notice I can tune the load, over coupled, for a pretty high pep.

I see other use a pulser and such to tune on SSB.

How do I really tune up?

Do I pulse and tune the load AND tune for max watts or load the carrier, tune it then tune the load for max?

I'm getting confused, do I tune the AM carrier then switch to SSB and everythings ok?

Mostly if I use a space gun as a pulser, will that work?

and do I tune both load and tune for max PEP on AM and SSB?
