Turner +2 key but no audio

I took the base off this mic to clean the contacts and the yellow wire came off the element side where the pot goes into it. Can anyone tell me where this wire connects? There is a CAP that measures 6.5uf connected to the middle pin of the pot. I tried putting it on either side of that cap and still no joy. Could be the contact but I THINK it is making and breaking OK...

The mic was working but had a loud crunch at key on key off.

Check to see if the pot is still good. It looks like the wire goes on the - side of the cap, but if you tried the + side first, it would have put 9v across the pot.

Thanks too many! It was wired correctly but I introduced another problem with the mic connector. one of the conductors got broken at the audio pin on the 4pin. Back working now!
